Text: (required) UNDERSTANDING BASIC STATISTICS – Brase & Brase.
Computer Guide: We will make use of software R. It is on all the PCs in the Lab in the B&E building. I will also distribute a floppy disk of R for Windows in the beginning of semester (or you can download it here). A short manual on how to use the software R-survival guide.
If you really have trouble downloading R, and do not want to go to B&E building, you can use R within Netscape: Web based R. This is a remote machine, so it can be slow. And you cannot save your work after quit Netscape.
Finally a Mac version of R. (if you use Mac)
Calculator: You will need one that can calculate mean and standard deviation.
