Abstract:
The Euler-Poincare Formula is a well-known linear relation involving
the f-vector and Betti sequence of a finite simplicial complex. In
this talk I will present a theorem by BjÓ§rner and Kalai that extends
this relation so that for a d-dimensional simplicial complex, we can
find d additional relations between the two sequences, as well as
characterize all possible f/Betti pairs.
